Hyderabad police arrest three heroin peddlers from West Bengal, seizing 70 grams of drugs worth ₹3.5 lakh in Shamshabad

Hyderabad: The state excise police on Thursday arrested three peddlers and seized 70 grams of heroin worth ₹ 3.50 lakh from their possession.

The arrested peddlers, who were identified as Ajmal Hussain, Noor Azam Khan, S.K. Suraj and natives of West Bengal, revealed that they procured the drug from Malda in West Bengal and were selling to known consumers in the city at inflated prices.

Acting on a tip-off, the excise sleuths caught the trio while they were selling the drugs behind a private hospital at Serilingampally in Shamshabad area.

During police interrogation, the trio confessed that they purchased the contraband for ₹ 500 per gram, mixed chalk powder and were selling the same for ₹ 1,000 to ₹ 2,000 per gram in twin cities, District Task Force inspector, Praveen Kumar said.

They along with the seized banned drug were produced before the court for judicial remand, Director General (DCA ) V. B. Kamalasan Reddy stated in a press release.
