Tirupati Police Seize 32 Kg Ganja in Raids, 17 held
Tirupati: Tirupati district police arrested 17 individuals involved in ganja trafficking and seized 32 kilograms of the contraband during simultaneous raids on Wednesday. The operation, conducted under the direction of Superintendent of Police L. Subba Rayudu, involved teams from Sri Kalahasti One Town, Two Town, and Thottambedu police stations.
Arrests were made at three locations: Brindamma Colony near Sri Kalahasti railway station, Rajiv Nagar Colony’s Panasakona Mandapam, and near Swarnamukhi Bridge in Pedda Kanaparthi village. The accused reportedly sourced ganja from regions like Araku and Paderu, distributing it across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala.
SP Rayudu, addressing the media, highlighted the police’s efforts to curb the illegal trade, including intensified inspections and the use of the Preventive Detention Act against repeat offenders. Of those arrested, 14 were from Sri Kalahasti, two from Venkatagiri, and one from Paderu. The public has been urged to report any suspicious activities related to ganja trade.
