Two-Year-Old Girl Killed in Tragic Road Accident in Meerpet

Hyderabad:A car ran over a two-year-old girl who was playing on the roadside, killing her on the spot at Meerpet on Monday. The victim was identified as Tirumala Balamma, whose parents are alms-seekers. Police said the toddler went towards a group of children who were playing by the roadside.

Cab driver Vamshi, 25, was turning the vehicle at the spot and reportedly sounded the horn following which the children moved away. Balamma was still on the road and the car ran over her.

“I had no idea that I ran over a girl and headed on my way until a few residents started shouting at me and stopped me about 100 metres away. That is when I realised,” Vamshi reportedly told the police.

Meerpet police registered a case of causing death by negligence and took custody of Vamshi.
