Visakhapatnam: Two individuals have been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment and fined Rs 1,00,000 each for Ganja smuggling in a case dating back to December 2, 2014. The convicted persons were identified as Padala Nageswar Rao and Gurram Nagesh.
The verdict was delivered on Tuesday by K Ratna Kumar, IXth Additional Sessions Judge at the Chodavaram court, according to Anakapalli SP Tuhin Sinha.
The case stems from a routine vehicle inspection near Rajam junction in Bucheyyapet mandal, where police intercepted the accused traveling in an auto-rickshaw. During the search, officers seized 36 kg of Ganja from their possession. The case was registered at Bucheyyapeta police station
