Hyderabad: GHMC’s directorate of enforcement vigilance & disaster management (EV&DM) has taken up fire safety mock drills at select locations in the city. The focus will be on the most vulnerable spots and buildings like schools, hospitals, malls, office complexes, hotels and banquet, and function halls, which have large gatherings.

EV&DM employees are demonstrating ways to escape from fires, evacuations during emergencies, operating firefighting equipment and providing first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

This week, mock drills were conducted at a supermarket in Patancheru, shopping malls in Kukatpally and Attapur, a multi-storied complex in SD Road and a textile store in LB Nagar. Overall, awareness programmes were conducted in eight public places and 11 shopping malls, said EV&DM in a press release here on Wednesday.

Any building owner or management of educational institutions and establishments wishing to conduct evacuation drills in their premises can call on helpline No: 040-29555500 or 9000113667, said EV&DM director N. Prakash Reddy.
