Kakinada: The Kakinada branches of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Indian Dental Association (IDA), and Government Doctors Association (GDA) have announced a 24-hour boycott of medical services from 6 am on August 17.

This protest is in response to the rape and murder of a postgraduate medical student at R.G. Kar Hospital in Kolkata on August 9. Former IMA state president Dr G.S. He also condemned the assault on doctors protesting the incident on August 14.

The Kakinada IMA president, Dr M. Pawan Kumar, and IDA state convenor Addala Satyanarayana demanded a CBI probe into the Kolkata incident, the establishment of a special court, and amendments to state laws to ensure harsher penalties for such crimes. They requested public support for their cause.
