Hyderabad: The GHMC has introduced Jatayu, a new machine, similar to a vacuum cleaner, to collect and dispose of leaves, paper scraps, and other lightweight dry waste typically left behind after processions and rallies.

The machine is mounted on a vehicle resembling a Swachh Auto Tipper and is equipped with a flexible pipe. A sanitation worker uses the pipe to vacuum-clean the roads.

A trial run of the machine was conducted on Thursday near Prasad’s Multiplex and will be launched on Saturday. Amrapali Kata, the ex-GHMC commissioner, has decided to procure the machine.
