Hyderabad: Victims of Fake Job Scam Seek Justice at Grievance Event
Scammed job seekers from Nizamabad allege fake job promises, financial exploitation in Dubai, and demand action
Hyderabad: Several victims of a fake job scam from Nizamabad and nearby areas reached out to the government for help at the Prajavani grievances redressal programme here on Tuesday.
They said Pabba Bhoomesh and his wife Dundigalla Swapna promised them jobs in Israel but took them to Dubai instead. The victims paid ₹6 lakh each to a sub-agent named Argula Bhojram, who promised them jobs, visas, food, and housing. When they arrived in Dubai, they were left on their own, forced to sign papers, and given no help.
The complainants said the couple disappeared after 15 months, taking the victim’s passports with them, leaving them with no way to reclaim their money. The victims have since been harassed by banks in Dubai, which are pressuring them to repay loans taken out in their names.
The victims also alleged that Bhoomesh had taken credit cards in their names and had not paid adding the dues, adding to their financial burden. Police cases have been filed, they said, and sought justice.
Authorities investigating the case found that large sums of money were transferred through hawala channels, and Bhoomesh had used the victims’ names and personal data to borrow money. It was also revealed that Bhoomesh had previously scammed people in 2015 with similar promises of jobs in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The Prajavani programme also saw over 100 applicants requesting job notifications for junior linemen and assistant engineers in the electricity department, as announced by the state government in October.
A total of 450 applications were received at the Prajavani event held at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Public Hall. Among the submissions were 150 applications related to the panchayat raj and rural development department, 119 for the electricity department, 68 for the revenue department, two for the migrant prajavani, and 113 for various other departments.
