Install caution sign boards at Ramapuram Beach: Minister

Vijayawada: In the wake of back-to-back drowning incidents at Ramapuram Beach in Vetapalem mandal of Bapatla district, energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar directed the officials concerned to put up cautionary sign boards with the help of marine police and deploy lifeguards at the beach immediately.

Holding a review meeting with the officials on the safety measures at Ramapuram beach, Ravi Kumar pulled up Bapatla SP and other officials for failing to take action and control the damage despite eight people drowning in June alone at the beach.

On the occasion, the officials explained that the presence of resorts near the beach, where people who come for vacation stay, is leading to the mishaps. In this regard, the minister instructed the officials to ensure that the resorts adhered to norms to curb mishaps. He directed the police, revenue, tourism, and other department officials to coordinate and hold a meeting with the resort management to curb the drownings at Ramapuram Beach.
