Bengaluru: Over show cause notice served to him by Governor in connection with alleged irregularities in plot distribution to his wife by Mysore Urban Development (MUDA) in Mysuru city, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday alleged Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot acted on a petition by a social activist T.J. Abraham and he termed the social activist a ‘blackmailer’ who had petitioned against several political leaders in the past. The show cause notice to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was served on July 26 by Governor.

He accused the Governor of acting like a ‘puppet’ at the hands of Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal Secular and alleged the BJP led Union Government of trying to dislodge an elected State Government in Karnataka through ‘misuse’ of Raj Bhavan.

Siddaramaiah told reporters in Mysuru, en route to Kodagu district to assess damages caused by heavy rainfall, said the show-cause notice to him by the Governor as ‘illegal.’

Prior to serving show-cause notice, he felt, Governor should have waited for the submission of the Judicial Commission report constituted on July 14 under Justice P.N. Desai to investigate alleged irregularities in MUDA plot distribution.

The show cause notice by Governor, he said, has been done in haste referring to filing of petition and notice served on him happened on the same day (July 26) and stated Governor should have considered all legal aspects before a show-cause notice was served to a Chief Minister.

Siddaramaiah also pointed to several complaints pending with the Governor for action particularly against some of the BJP leaders which include former Union Minister Shashikala Jolle and former ministers-Murugesh Nirani and Janardhan Redddy.

The party high command has been apprised of the designs of opposition parties to bring down the Congress government in Karnataka and the high command is convinced by the reply, said the Chief Minister.
