Two CRPF soldiers killed in Maoist IED attack in Sukma, Chhattisgarh during a patrol. Additional forces deployed to locate perpetrators
Sukma: Two paramilitary soldiers were killed when their truck was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Maoists in Sukma, Chhattisgarh.
The soldiers, part of the Central Reserve Police Force's (CRPF) elite anti-Maoist unit CoBRA, were conducting a road-opening patrol (ROP) when the attack occurred, according to police reports. The patrol was moving from the Silger camp under Jagargunda police station limits towards Tekalgudem.
Additional forces have been deployed to the area to search for the Maoists responsible for the attack, police said.
IEDs pose a significant threat to soldiers involved in anti-Maoist operations in Chhattisgarh. Experts note that these crude explosives are often hidden by roadside vegetation in the dense jungles, making them difficult to detect in time.
