Pema Khandu re-elected as next Arunachal Pradesh CM
Guwahati: The BJP legislators on Wednesday re-elected Pema Khandu as the leader of BJP Legislative Party. The meeting of the BJP Legislature Party (BLP) was held in the presence of the party’s two central observers -- Ravi Shankar Prasad and Tarun Chugh.
Mr Khandu will meet Governor KT Parnaik to stake his claim to form the government. Mr Khandu, along with his cabinet colleagues, will be sworn in on Thursday morning, marking the continuation of his leadership in the state.
Mr Khandu-led BJP in Arunachal Pradesh won the assembly polls by securing a landslide victory by winning 46 seats in the 60-member assembly. National People's Party won five seats, Nationalist Congress Party won three seats, two seats were won by the People's Party of Arunachal, one by Congress and three by the Independent in the recently concluded assembly polls in the state.
The NPP has offered support to the BJP government but the party is unlikely to get representation in the new Cabinet.
The swearing in ceremony of the new government will be held at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan in Itanagar.
The new government will take oath in presence of BJP national president JP Nadda, senior leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party’s national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh, a BJP leader said on Wednesday.
Mr Nadda, Mr Shah, and Mr Santosh are expected to arrive in Itanagar on Wednesday evening.
