BJP sets up ‘war room’ in Telangana HQ to monitor counting process
Hyderabad: BJP leaders and activists in Telangana were in jubilant mood on Monday following a majority of exit polls predicting double-digit Lok Sabha seats to the party in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah had appealed to the voters to elect over 10 party MPs and most of the exit polls have predicted between 10 and 12 seats for the party.
Talking to Deccan Chronicle, BJP national general secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar said that the predictions of the exit polls have been in line with party’s expectations. He claimed that his victory from Karimnagar would be with the highest majority. He also said that BRS would be history after the results are declared on Tuesday.
The party’s state general secretary Dr. Kasam Venkateshwarlu said that a strong three-member legal team for each Lok Sabha seat in the state, will camp at the state party office right from the commencement of the counting process to help candidates in case they need any legal solutions.
A ‘war room’ will also function in the state office with observers, who will take up any trouble or error during the counting process with the district collectors, police officers and other election staff, he said
A two-member team of Dr. K. Laxman and Kasam Venkateshwarlu will be in touch with the party head office to update them or take suggestions from the central leadership.
At a meeting here on Monday, the state leaders discussed the precautions to be taken on the counting day. All candidates have been asked to be vigilant during the counting process, said N.V. Subhash, official spokesperson of the BJP.
Meanwhile, after the exit poll results hinted at a `keen contest’ and `tight race’ for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat, BJP workers in the Old City have made arrangements for grand celebrations.
Pandu Yadav, president of Golconda district of BJP, said that they will conduct special poor feeding programmes right from morning hours at several centres to celebrate Narendra Modi’s hat-trick as Prime Minister. There will be a special puja at Vithoba temple in Gowliguda before the counting process begins, he said.
