Bengaluru: In urging the Governor to withdraw his show cause notice served against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the cabinet meeting on Thursday, State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra on Friday said the cabinet questioned the decision of the Governor.

The show cause notice has been served based on a complaint from a social activist T.J. Abraham to Governor on July 26 wherein the activist alleged irregularities in plot allotment to CM’s family in Mysuru city.

At a press conference in Bengaluru, Vijayendra said “A history has been created (on Thursday) where a cabinet meeting was held without Chief Minister” and stated Chief Minister failed to answer queries of the opposition in the recently concluded monsoon session of the Assembly. He needs to answer several questions of the opposition.

Vijayendra claimed some of the Ministers at yesterday's cabinet were visibly happy after the Governor served show cause notice to the Chief Minister and said “It is important to observe who are all against the CM.”

Regarding the padayatra beginning Saturday, Vijayendra said the padayatra will be flagged off by former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and Union Minister of Heavy Industries and State Janata Dal Secular Chief H.D. Kumaraswamy in Kengeri about 20-km from Bengaluru city at 8.30 am. He said “The padayatra is not against an individual (Chief Minister Siddaramaiah) but against the existing bad system.”

As many as 10,000 people are expected to participate in the padayatra covering a distance of about 140-km which will go on for a week. The valedictory function will be held in Mysuru city on August 10.
