Bengaluru: Ministers-D.K. Shivakumar and Dr G Parameshwar on Friday expressed displeasure over the functioning of Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot especially over his decision to return as many as 15 Bills passed in the Assembly.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar disclosed the Governor sent back as many as 15 Bills to the State Government at the behest of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and questioned “Then why should there be a State Government?” However, Shivakumar did not reveal which were the Bills returned by the Governor.
“If any clarifications are needed, we will give them,” said Shivakumar and stated to ask God to guide the Governor in the right path.In reply to a query, he said, “None of the efforts to bring down the State Government in Karnataka will succeed. We (Congress party) will act accordingly.”
Sharing similar views to that of Shivakumar, Minister for Home Dr G. Parameshwar told reporters in Bengaluru questions have been raised over the Governors’ of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and West Bengal and such tussles happen when Governor and State Government fail to work in tandem.
Earlier, he said, a couple of Bills used to come to the State Government seeking clarifications but categorically sending back 11 Bills and others might need clarifications, indicating the Governor lacked confidence over the functioning of the State Government led by the Congress party.
