Pune: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray gave an aggressive address to party workers. In his speech he attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Union Minister Amit Shah. He accused the BJP of indulging in “power jihad” by breaking political parties to retain their power and drew a controversial parallel between Amit Shah and Ahmad Shah Abdali, the Afghan ruler who defeated Marathas at the Battle of Panipat.

Responded to Shah’s earlier remark where Shah had described him as the leader of the "Aurangzeb Fan Club," Thackeray responded, “From today, I will call Amit Shah Abdali. If you call me a fake descendant, I will call you Abdali.”

Besides speaking about the recent defections from Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Thackeray pointed out that these were engineered by BJP leadership for purposes of consolidating power. According to Thackeray, “If Muslims are with us after we explain to them our Hindutva then according to BJP we are Aurangzeb Fan Club. What you are doing is power jihad,” said Thackeray.

Thackeray also criticized Eknath Shinde government over bribing voters with "revdis" (freebies) under 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin' scheme.

During the rally Thackeray said that Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu are not ‘Hindutva-vaadi.’
