Kurnool: In a move to strengthen epidemic preparedness, Kurnool district collector P. Ranjit Basha has directed medical officials to prioritise the management of acute diarrhoeal diseases (ADD).

During a meeting on Monday, the collector emphasised the importance of ensuring sufficient stocks of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and zinc tablets at all primary health centres (PHCs) within the district. He specifically highlighted the crucial role of zinc in recovery, underlining the need for a full 14-day course even if symptoms subside earlier.
This initiative, implemented until August 31, aims to effectively control the spread of ADD. Collector Basha further stressed the importance of raising public awareness about the disease. He directed medical teams to conduct information campaigns at every PHC, village health clinic, and Anganwadi centre.
The meeting was attended by DM&HO Dr Praveen Kumar, DPMO Dr Uma, DMO Dr Nookaraju, and other relevant officials. This collaborative effort demonstrates the district administration’s commitment to safeguarding public health.
