Nalgonda: Teams of the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids on the first-aid centres being run by Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs) at Chandur in Nalgonda district and in Suryapet.

They have issued notices to five RMPs who were running first-aid centres at Chandur for violating the rules. In Suryapet, TSMC teams conducted raids on several first-aid centres and verified whether the RMPs were following the rules.

They also filed a case against RMP Dharmaiah, who was running a first-aid centre on Kudakuda Road under Section 34 of the National Medical Council Act for violating the rules. The officials found steroid injections in the first aid centre.

Speaking to media at Suryapet after the raids, SMC legal and anti quackery committee member Dr M Sheshu Madhav said it was found during their raids that many of the RMPs were using words like “clinic” and “hospital” on the boards of their centres in violation of rules.

The RMPs were also giving anti-biotic and steroid medicines to patients which would cause renal diseases. He appealed to people to visit qualified doctors only when they fall sick. We have issued notices to several RMPs for violating the rules.
