Telangana: Another suicide over land issue in Jangaon

Another suicide over a land dispute has been reported from Jangaon district. A 42-year-old woman committed suicide after being vexed with officials’ apathy in resolving her land issue at Kondapur village of Chilpur mandal on Sunday.

Police said that the woman was identified as K. Gnaneshwari, a resident of Kondapur. She is survived by her husband and three children. She purchased two acres of land on the outskirts of the village some years ago.

However, for the past few years, there had been a dispute over the land with her neighbours claiming the land belonged to them.

She ran pillar to post to by approaching officials concerned to conduct a survey to demarcate her land. Despite several applications, the officials failed to act on it. A despondent Gnaneshwari consumed poison to end life. Though her family members rushed her to the government hospital she died while undergoing treatment. After a complaint by her husband, the police registered a case and started an investigation.
