Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Wednesday submitted before the High Court that there is not truth in the contention of Padi Kaushik Reddy, BRS MLA, from Huzurabad constituency that there was delay of distribution of cheques related to Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak to beneficiaries.

The BRS MLA approached the High Court that the government authorities did not allow him to disburse Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak cheques and the cheques will be lapsed soon as the last date for deposit of cheques is June 27. The court on Tuesday questioned the contention of the state government on this issue.

Following the directions of the court, Imran Khan, Additional Advocate General of Telangana, representing the state government, on Wednesday informed the High Court that Kalyana Laxmi and Shadi Mubarak cheques will be disbursed to the beneficiaries in Huzurabad constituency. He also submitted that 71 cheques have already been sent to the respective banks and the validity of the cheques issued to the beneficiaries is August, 2024 and not June 27 which was contended by Kaushik Reddy.

The Additional AG also informed the judge that eligible beneficiaries, who will be at loss due to non disbursal of cheques due to non issuance of cheques are not before the court and this issue of non issuance of cheques has been raked up just to gain political mileage.
