Trinamul Leader Dulal Sarkar Murder Linked to Party Feud
Dulal Sarkar's broad daylight murder in Malda is revealed to be a result of internal Trinamul Congress faction feud, with key arrests made
Kolkata: The broad daylight murder of Trinamul Congress heavyweight Dulal Sarkar in Malda of West Bengal recently has turned out to be the outcome of a faction feud within the ruling party.
This emerged on Tuesday night when the police arrested the mastermind of the killing in the case, Narendranath Tiwari, and his aide, Swapan Sharma, after marathon grilling.
Narendranath is a former TMC councillor of the English Bazar Municipality and had enmity with Sarkar, who was the district vice president of the party. He is the Malda Town president and district chief of the Hindi cell of the party at present.
ADG (South Bengal) Supratim Sarkar said that a contract of ₹50 lakhs was given to the assailants for the murder. On Wednesday, Narendranath and Swapan were remanded by the court in three-day police custody.
Narendranath however claimed that he was falsely implicated in the case before alleging the role of a ‘big fish.’ He and his brothers, Dhirendranath and Akhilesh, and Swapan were summoned by the cops for questioning at the English Bazar police station on Tuesday.
Later Narendranath and Swapan were booked in the murder case. Preliminary investigation revealed that Narendranath wanted to take revenge on Sarkar. He developed the grudge after Sarkar's followers beat one of his brothers during the last Municipal Election in 2022.
