Vizag police arrest serial housebreaker

The accused is connected to 11 crimes in Visakhapatnam and over 20 thefts in other districts. The police recovered 77 grams of gold and a motorcycle valued at ₹7,40,000 from him.

Visakhapatnam: The Vizag police arrested a serial housebreaker linked to multiple thefts in the city and its nearby areas. ACP, crime, Venkata Ratnam on Sunday revealed that Gottipati Raghuram, a resident of Ayyappa Nagar in Visakhapatnam, reported an assault on him and his family when they were sleeping. The burglar forced-enter the house by breaking the main door frame from inside the window, stole approximately 25 tolas of gold jewellery.

The case was filed at the Kancharapalem police station. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to involvement in 11 cases across various police jurisdictions in Visakhapatnam, including Kancharapalem, MVP, Arilova, and III Town, and admitted to committing over 20 thefts in different districts.

The accused, Balaboyina Ramesh, 28, also known as Vikram, was apprehended on August 17 in Krishna district. Ramesh, a repeat offender with 13 prior convictions, was living with an accomplice, Kotha Raghunath, in a rented accommodation in Sheila Nagar, Visakhapatnam. Further investigations revealed that Ramesh had targeted homes across Visakhapatnam, Guntur, and other districts, typically breaking locks and windows to gain entry.
