Mystic Mantra: Success follows them who do not seek it
Success comes to those people on the path who are not concerned about success at all.
He was sitting in front of me chatting over a cup of cappuccino. A distinguished looking man of mature age from Brazil. The name doesn’t matter, say, Piero. His intelligent brown eyes were shining through his gold-rimmed glasses. Evidently a rich and influential businessman. He wanted to start a new venture and was trying to find out whether he would be successful in it.
“What is success for you?” I asked him before starting the exploration. He faltered because he thought he knew what it was so he had never really looked into it. He closed his eyes and said, “Success means wealth, health and peace — in that order.”
Okay, so let us explore whether these three guys can live together or not. There was a question mark in his eyes. I said, “You are well aware of the complexity of making money. You have been through it and you know what a toll it takes on the health. Is your body in a position to withstand all the repercussions of this struggle?” It was obvious that his present physical system could not take the strain of the new venture.
Now he was really deep into himself. His face changed into an introspective mode. I suggested softly, “Why don’t you change the order of your goals instead? First, try to find peace within. Peace is born in the heart, not in the mind. So try to develop the heart-center through some Osho heart meditations. You may have not thought about it that success follows them who don’t seek it. Success is feminine, if you seek it you will not get it. You have to work with a collected heart so focuss on it totally.
You can take cue from Osho and see how he explains the intricacy of the mechanism of the mind. If you are seeking success, you are already divided. Then your heart is not in the work, your heart is already in the result. If you are divided, you will not succeed. Success happens only to undivided hearts who are not worried about the consequence, who are enjoying tremendously the journey itself and are not concerned about the goal... Each step of the journey becomes a goal. Wherever they are, there is the goal. Success comes to those people on the path who are not concerned about success at all. Your mind will be somewhere in the future and you will not be working in the present — and success can only come if the work is totally done in the present. This moment is going to give birth to the next moment. If this moment has been totally lived, the next moment is bound to be of a deeper totality, of a higher quality of totality.”
