PM Modi to visit Tirupur today
Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Karur, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Coimbatore: In a whistle-stop tour of Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi will visit the hosiery hub of Tirupur on Sunday, during which he is slated to formally launch state development and welfare schemes to the tune of '40,000 crore.
Top on that list is the Mr Modi to inaugurate through video conference the crucial Chennai Metro rail link between Teynampet-DMS and Central stations, to complete the CMRL first phase, official sources said on Saturday.
Mr Modi, who is slated to participate in the official function first at a 70-acre venue spruced up for the purpose at Perumanallur near Tirupur, will also lay the foundation stone for a 100-bed ESIC hospital for the knitwear hub.
The Prime Minister would then switch over to another podium within the same premises to address BJP workers from the western Tamil Nadu districts of Tirupur, Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Karur, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
