Mystic Mantra: Playing hide and seek

Many people wonder, “Where is God? Why doesn’t God help us? Is God even listening or watching what is happening to us?”

To answer this question, there is a story about a child who was playing hide and seek with his friends. In hide and seek, one person hides and the other children have to find him or her. The little boy found a hiding place and waited for the other children to find him. Several minutes passed, and the boy was not found. Five minutes passed. Ten minutes passed, but the boy continued waiting for the other children to find him. In the meantime, the others had grown tired of the game. Instead of finding him to tell him the game was over and they were going to do something else, they stopped playing and went off without looking for him.

The boy, seeing no one was coming, began to cry. After a while, his wise grandfather came looking for him. When he saw his grandson crying, he asked what happened.

The boy explained that his friends let him hide but stopped playing and never came to find him.

The grandfather said, “Don’t cry because the children did not come to find you. There is a great lesson in what has happened to you.” The boy asked, “What is the lesson?” The grandfather said, “Life is like a game of hide and seek with God. The difference is that you were waiting for your friends to find you, but God is also waiting to be found by us but we are searching for other things.”

If we think about it, we are complaining that God is hiding from us. However, in reality, God is available, but we are not looking for God. We see all the suffering going in the world and think God has turned a deaf ear and a blind eye on us. Yet, God is ready to help us, but we do not bother even to search for our Maker.

God is waiting for each of us, but we have to take the right steps to find God. God is hiding within us.

God has not abandoned us. God has left a trail leading to God’s Abode. Just as there are treasure maps that lead to buried treasure, similarly God has provided us a treasure. What are the steps?

Through meditation we can find the treasure of God within us. By coming in contact with the Light and Sound current within us, we can find God. Through meditation, we can heat the inner Sound current and see the Light of God. This is the royal treasure road back to our true Home.

Let us play hide and seek with God. God can be found within through meditation. When we meditate and find God, both God wins and we win the game of hide and seek.
