GHMC Polls: Campaigning picks pace in Narayankhed
The TD, which won the constituency in 1994, too has a good support in Narayankhed.
Hyderabad: While the GHMC polls make the headlines, campaigning for the Narayankhed Assembly bypoll has picked up with TRS going all out to wrest the seat from the Congress.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has entrusted T. Harish Rao with the campaign responsibility, who is going all out to win the seat in what has been a Congress or TD bastion.
“Narayankhed bypoll is prestigious. Voters should ensure the Opposition candidates lose their deposits like in Warangal,” Mr Harish Rao said.
Elections are being held following the demise of Congress MLA P. Kista Reddy.
TRS has fielded M. Bhoopal Reddy, who was runner-up in the 2014 elections.
The TD, which won the constituency in 1994, too has a good support in Narayankhed.
TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy had sought unanimous election of Kista Reddy’s kin as per tradition, but the TRS didn’t agree. In fact, it tried to lure Kista Reddy’s son Sanjeeva Reddy, who is fielded by Congress, to its fold, but failed.
The TRS government began the groundwork immediately after the demise of Kista Reddy, announcing a slew of developmental works, sanctioning a 150-bed hospital, Rs 172 crore for roads, Rs 20 crore for development works etc.
