Bengaluru: Does former BJP minister Katta Subramanya Naidu’s family consider Hebbal unlucky for him?

Sources in the state BJP said before offering the Hebbal ticket to Y.A. Naryanaswamy, the party had offered it to Katta and tried to persuade him. Naidu once even agreed to contest but his wife, Soubhagya and family opposed his decision to contest from Hebbal.

A week ago, Katta’s family members met with an accident which reportedly happened after he agreed to contest  the bypolls. Soon after this, Soubhagya persuaded Katta not to contest in Hebbal, sources said. Incidentally, the leader was elected from this constituency in the 2008 Assembly elections but had to go to jail after land corruption charges were made against him in 2010. His son and former corporator, Katta Jagadish, also went to jail. All this happened after they changed their constituency from Shivajinagar to Hebbal, sources said.

Another bad omen was the untimely demise of Hebbal MLA Jagadish Kumar and after this happened, Katta’s family was convinced that he should keep away from the bypoll. Sources revealed that Katta has made up his mind to return to Shivajinagar constituency in the 2018 general elections. Shivajinagar was represented by him before the delimitation of Assembly constituencies in 2008.

Meanwhile, at a meeting in Sadashivanagar on Wednesday, Katta assured party leaders that he will work for the victory of Nayarayanaswamy.
