It was 1972, a milestone in Sandalwood’s history which saw the release of Bangarada Manushya — an evergreen classic starring namma Annavru — the late thespian Dr Rajkumar. And it was thanks to the brilliance of late Siddalingaiah, who directed the movie which ran for more than two years at a single theatre in Bengaluru. It had a greater social impact on the younger generation who returned to their ancestral villages to take up agriculture.

The performance of the actors, mainly Dr Rajkumar was of such greatness that it was even recorded in the Forbes magazine in its edition titled “25 Greatest Acting Performances of Indian Cinema.” After more than four decades, Dr Shivarajkumar the eldest son of late Dr Rajkumar, has reportedly signed his next venture titled S/o Bangarada Manushya under Jayanna Combines, which is to be directed by Yogi G Raj. The movie is expected to go on the floors on Sankranti. Seems like Sandalwood is going back to the golden era for inspiration.
