Udupi Starts Digital Traffic & Parking System for Paryaya Festivities
GPS-based parking guide aims to ease congestion during upcoming Paryaya.
Udupi: With the renowned Paryaya celebration approaching in Udupi, drawing attendees from various parts of the state and beyond, the police department has introduced an innovative approach to assist visitors in locating convenient parking spaces in the temple town.
The 'Digital Traffic and Vehicle Parking Management System 2024' employs GPS technology to guide individuals in identifying parking spots.
Paryaya celebration marks the commencement of a two-year term when the Swamiji, among the eight pontiffs of Udupi Krishna Matha, will be in charge of offering daily pooja to Sri Krishna. The upcoming event on Jan 18 will see Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of Puthige Matha ascending the Paryaya peetha.
Given the substantial influx of people from diverse regions, numerous vehicles inundate the city, leading to traffic congestion. Often, due to a lack of awareness about parking locations, vehicles end up parked on main roads, obstructing smooth traffic flow.
In a bid to alleviate unnecessary traffic issues and facilitate efficient parking, the district police have introduced the Digital Traffic and Vehicle Parking Management System 2024.
Publicity has been given to the QR code and the link of this system. Anyone can use their mobile device to scan the QR code through Google Lens and access the map, clearly displaying parking slots for buses, cars, and two-wheelers. About 25 locations have been marked for parking vehicles in the 2-3 km radius of Udupi Sri Krishna Matha. The map also designates areas for VIP and VVIP parking and indicates locations where police barricades are placed.
This user-friendly map enables vehicle users to navigate the area efficiently, minimizing time and fuel consumption.
The system doesn't just focus on traffic management but also places importance on cleanliness and health. Information about the locations of mobile toilets and Primary Health Centers is readily available on the map, ensuring a well-rounded and convenient experience for all participants in the Paryaya celebration.
