255 held in Bapatla district for poll violence

VIJAYAWADA: Bapatla SP Vakul Jindal said 36 cases have been registered and 255 persons arrested following the poll violence in the district on May 13.

He underlined that police pickets are being set up in problematic villages to prevent any untoward incidents. Police are patrolling these areas to raise awareness among people about the legal consequences they may face in case they engage in any violent activities.

The SP said surveillance is being maintained on individuals likely to cause disturbances, miscreants and rowdy-sheeters.

He warned that strict action will be taken against anyone disrupting law and order in the district.
