38th Hyderabad Sailing Week Kicked Off

Hyderabad: The 38th Hyderabad Sailing Week, jointly organised by EME Sailing Association and Laser Class Association of India, commenced on July 2 at EME Sailing Club. DG of electronics and mechanical engineers (DGEME), senior colonel commandant and EME sailing association patron and General JS Sidana attended the ceremony.

The event serves as a Yachting Association of India’s ranking event, and features competitions across multiple classes of ILCA 7, ILCA 6, ILCA 4 boys and girls and the 470 class.

Lt General JS Sidana waved the chequered flag in Hussain Sagar and commenced the event. From Wednesday till Saturday, races in two sessions will be conducted at the lake with each class participating in 12 races.

EME Sailing Association for the first time also organised an international measurer’s clinic and an international judge’s seminar.

Nearly 95 teams registered at the event. Asian Games silver medallist Neha Thakur, who is also participating in the event, spoke to Deccan Chronicle and said “This is my 7th time participating in Hyderabad, and it is extremely exciting.”
