Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has issued an order suspending former director of the mines department and former vice-chairman and managing director of the AP mines development corporation V.G. Venkata Reddy for violating the provisions of sand tenders and agreements.

Chief Secretary to the government Neerabh Kumar Prasad has issued GO MS NO. 61 suspending Venkata Reddy on Thursday. The violations by Venkata Reddy have allegedly caused heavy loss to the state exchequer and gains to private parties.

As per the GO, Venkata Reddy shall not leave Amaravati without obtaining prior permission from the competent authority.

As Venkata Reddy, a senior civilian staff officer (Trg.), belongs to the Coast Guards and worked in AP on deputation, the AP Chief Secretary wrote a letter to the director general, Coast Guard headquarters, New Delhi, about the suspension orders and initiation of disciplinary action against him.

Further, the CS has issued orders to the director general, anti-corruption bureau, to conduct a thorough investigation into the illegalities of the Venkata Reddy.
