Vijayawada: Minister for housing Kolusu Parthasarathy announced that 1,700 teams have been deputed to assess damages caused to the crops and properties in the flood-hit areas. Talking to the media persons here on Monday, he said local public representatives would supervise the enumeration works at the village/ward secretariat level, a team comprising a deputy tahsildar, revenue inspector, ward assistant and police would take up enumeration at the mandal level and a district level official would oversee the work at the district level. The minister said that according to an estimate, nearly 2.50 lakh houses have been damaged.

He announced that a special app was developed to register the estimates of damages and said that in case the members of the house were not present during the visit of the enumeration teams, their details could be added later. He advised such people to meet the local public representative and have their details included in the app. He slammed the previous government for failing to allocate funds for taking up repair and maintenance works of the canals and for allowing illegal mining of the soil in the canals.
