3 Medicos Go Missing in ASR District Waterfalls
Visakhapatnam:Three students of Eluru Asram Medical College got washed away at the Jalatarangini waterfalls in Maredumilli mandal of ASR district on Sunday afternoon.
Reports said 13 students of the medical college, including 10 girls and three boys, arrived at the waterfalls for a picnic. All of them entered the water and were frolicking when a sudden gush of water swept five of them away.
Two of the girls got stuck at the causeway and could be rescued.
The missing students have been identified as Ch. Haradeep, K. Sowmya and B. Amrutha.
ASR district SP Amit Bardar said there had been a sudden rain in the upper reaches, which resulted in swelling of water at the spot. He disclosed that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has taken up the search and rescue operations.
Tourism minister Kandula Durgesh has expressed his shock at the tragedy.
