Vijayawada:Frustrated by alleged harassment from teachers, 35 students from Gurukul School escaped from their social welfare hostel in Vankayalapadu, Yadlapadu Mandal, Palnadu district on Monday. According to police reports, a total of 67 students fled the school grounds by climbing over the boundary wall after morning prayers. While teachers managed to retrieve 32 of the students, 35 others made their way towards the Kondaveedu Fort mountain area. They were later found near National Highway 16 at Tummalapalem and brought back to the school. Narasaraopet DSP and Chilakaluripet Rural CI subsequently visited the school to speak with the students.

During the discussions, the students reported instances of mistreatment and harassment from the teaching staff. They raised concerns about the poor quality of food, insufficient drinking water, and exorbitant school fees. Additionally, they expressed frustration over being denied the opportunity to play games.

In response, the DSP promised to investigate the students' claims and assured them that their concerns would be addressed. He also advised the students to maintain discipline and avoid leaving the school without permission.
