Vijayawada: The Amaravati capital works would be restarted from Uddandarayunipalem on June 12. Chief Secretary Neerabh Prasad noted that the Amaravati capital foundation stone had been laid in Uddandarayunipalem.
“The government will resolve the issues of farmers in this connection,” he said.
The CS said an action plan would be framed to speed up the construction works immediately after the swearing-in ceremony of the new government on June 12.
The chief secretary, along with CRDA officials, conducted a whirlwind tour of the capital region of Amaravati on Sunday. He inspected various building constructions that remained stopped in the middle.
The Telugu Desam government led by Nara Chandrababu Naidu, during its first innings iin 2014, announced Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh and established the AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA). Capital construction works progressed during his term. However, after the YSR Congress government took charge, it floated the idea of decentralization of governance and came up with the three-capitals plan. This took the steam off the Amaravati works.
Within two day after NK Prasad took charge as the CS, the capital region works resumed on a priority basis. Designated CM Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that the three-capitals plan is shelved.
The CS said that tor the past four to five days, CRDA officials have been carrying out minor repairs, removal of bushes and trees, and restoration of electric lights in the capital area by roping in 83 cranes and tippers, along the major roads in the master plan including the Amaravati Seed Axis Road and Karakatta (river bund) Road.
In 2015, when the foundation stone of Amaravati capital was laid, the present CS was the commissioner of municipal administration and urban development department. On Sunday, he visited Uddandarayunipalem, the CRDA project site, where Bhumi Puja had been held earlier. Later, he inspected the residential complex of All India Service officers, the quarters of MLAs and the residential building complexes of AP NGO employees.
Also, the CS inspected structures like the 10 MLD water treatment plant and Happy Nest. The CS also inspected the additional building complex of the high court that is already functioning.
The chief secretary held discussions with CRDA commissioner Vivek Yadav, additional commissioner, SE and other officers of the engineering department.
