Anantapur: Anantapur SP P. Jagadish has introduced drone technology to assist the police in curbing anti-social activities, even in remote areas. Thirty constables from various police stations in the district have been trained in drone operation. Recently, drones were used in Anantapur city and rural areas, yielding positive results as ganja peddlers and public drinkers fled upon spotting the drones during a trial.
Speaking at a press conference, SP Jagadish demonstrated drone usage. He explained that he learned to operate the drone in just two minutes ahead of a visit by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to Nemakel village. The drones have a range of up to 3 km, with clear visuals even in the dark using night vision mode.
The police currently have three drones, with plans to expand their use to every police station. The drones have proven effective in deterring anti-social behaviour and can also assist in rescue operations during floods and other emergencies.
