Tirupati: State BJP leaders, led by secretary Nagothu Ramesh Naidu, performed special prayers at the Vakulamatha temple near Peruru in Sri Sathya Sai district on Sunday, urging the Goddess to punish those responsible for allegedly defiling the historical Tirumala temple.

The BJP leaders, while chanting slogans for justice, broke coconuts at the temple, appealing to Vakulamatha to hold accountable those responsible for adulterating the ghee used in the Tirumala laddu and to safeguard the sanctity of the temple.

Speaking to reporters, Ramesh Naidu said Vakulamatha, as the mother of Lord Venkateswara, has historically been the guardian of the Annaprasadam offerings. He demanded strict punishment for those involved in the alleged adulteration.

They accused the previous administration, led by the YSRC, of corruption, claiming that their greed for commissions had compromised the temple’s sanctity.

Also participating in the special prayers, Naveen Kumar Reddy, who joined the BJP from the Congress recently, said millions of devotees were hurt by the mismanagement of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and assured that the central government would soon take action against those responsible.

He raised concerns over missing temple ornaments and large bank deposits, alleging that corrupt officials and former TTD board members, appointed during the YSRC regime, were involved.

He called for a comprehensive investigation by the comptroller and auditor general to uncover the truth.
