Vijayawada: When the CM arrived at Banavath Pamula Naik’s thatched house, he had to bend a bit to enter it. The CM sat on a cot and started enquiring about the details in his family.
He told Naik, “You are living in a house like this when your neighbour is living in a big house. Maybe, your neighbour has got two to five acres of land from his ancestors and he worked hard and sustained it. I want a change in the thinking of people like you, you must involve more in work. Take government help, earn money for yourself and reduce your expenditure.” Naik, with folded hands, nodded in agreement.
The CM asked the elder boy, “What are you studying? Are you faring well in your studies, and what is your ambition?”
The boy replied, “I am studying Intermediate second year, sir, and I want to become a police officer.” Naidu responded in a lighter vein, “Well, you want people to be fearful of you?”
Naidu asked the younger boy about his ambition, and he said he wanted to be a lawyer. The CM asked him whether someone had prompted him to be a lawyer. The boy affirmed that it was of his own urge.
The Chief Minister appreciated the family’s efforts to support the education of the two boys and said, they would otherwise have become only labourers. He sipped a glass of tea offered by the family. Before leaving the place, Naidu stood with some local residents and gave them a photo opportunity.
