Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has welcomed the Supreme Court verdict on SC Categorization and said he had done this in AP previously but cases had halted its implementation.

Speaking at the 'Mana Niru-Mana Sampada' programme in Sunnipenta, Kurnool district, he Naidu said: "Social justice, proportional justice to every community, is Telugu Desam's ideology. Earlier, I brought the A-B-C-D categories for SCs. Justice should be done for all. Allotment of poll tickets was also done by TD in the same way. This government belongs to all of you.”

Naidu explained the scenario, “Telugu Desam was the first party in the country to step forward on the SC Categorization in 1996, by setting up the Justice Ramachandra Raju Commission. I brought the categorizations after this. Later, it was challenged in different courts and today it was confirmed by a seven-judge bench. Categorization was accepted by the court. Justice for every caste, every religion and every class according to the proportion of the population is our party's doctrine.”

He said the SC Categorization would be useful to provide fruits of progress to the most- needy.” Dalits should to be united and socially and economically develop. There should be light in their lives.”

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said the struggles of the Madiga community led to the Supreme Court verdict. He congratulated Manda Krishna Madiga who fought and won the case.

Kalyan said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded positively to the grant of reservations for Madigas during the NDA-2 term. In February this year, the central government informed the Supreme Court that social justice is possible through categorization and that the goal of providing equal opportunities to all will be achieved.”

The positive development of SC classification in the NDA-2 period is a welcome development. Chandrababu Naidu took a categorical decision to provide equal opportunities to all, rather than resort to vote bank politics, when he was the chief minister of the united AP.”

Education minister Nara Lokesh welcomed the SC verdict. He said many people from SCs would get job opportunities. He stressed on economic and social development of all sections of the people.

Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha welcomed the verdict.

From the BJP, Union minister Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, state party president Daggubati Purandeswari and state health minister Satya Kumar welcome the judgment given by the Constitutional bench of the Supreme Court. They said justice has been done for the decades of struggle of the oppressed communities.
