Vijayawada: A student of engineering, studying at a private university in the city, was taken into custody by the police for carrying two rounds of bullets, at the Vijayawada International Airport on Thursday.

According to Gannavaram police, the student hailing from Panipat in Haryana was about to board a flight to Delhi, when the officials manning the security hold area, checked his luggage and found two rounds of ammunition. He was immediately taken into custody for further questioning.
The student confessed to the police that when he came to the city earlier from his home town, he was travelling by a train and he was not aware about the cartridges in his luggage. He further said that the seized bullets were of the licensed gun belonging to his father. A case has been booked and further investigation is underway, police said.
