Tirupati: The Kovur police in Nellore district have launched a crackdown against illegal sand mining operations in the region, resulting in the seizure of several sand-laden tractors and tipper lorries. The operation, which began early Friday morning, targeted the Penna watershed area within the mandal limits.

Acting on tip off, Kovur sub-inspector Ranganath and his team carried out inspections in the area and seized sand-laden tippers and tractors at Inumadu Centre, impounded and transferred them to the local police station for further investigation. “Legal action will be taken against those who transport sand without proper permissions", Ranganath stated. He warned that the police would not hesitate to enforce the law against illegal sand mining activities.

The police are now conducting a detailed investigation to identify the owners of the seized vehicles and to uncover the broader network behind these illicit operations. "We are determined to trace the masterminds behind this illegal sand transportation racket and take appropriate action," the SI said. The police have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to illegal sand extraction and transportation.
