Kurnool: A youth from Prakasam district, who went to Armenia for work, died under suspicious circumstances.

Vonteru Sivanarayana, 31, from Hasamabad in Pedda Dornala mandal, died recently. His family received news when his colleagues contacted them requesting money for the transportation of the body.

They demanded the family send Rs 2 lakh to show the body via video call or Rs 10 lakh to send the body to India. After making these demands, they abruptly switched off their phones.

Sivanarayana, who had completed his B.Tech and secured a job in Armenia, had informed his parents that he had joined a new company 15 days back and was sharing a room with three others.

He mentioned over the phone that after a liquor party on Thursday, his friends had given him a bottle of water which led to severe vomiting and diarrhea.

On Friday, he told them he had been admitted to a hospital. However, on Saturday, his parents received news and pictures from the hospital showing Sivanarayana being treated, only to be informed of his death later.

The worried family has appealed to the state government to investigate the matter and ensure return of their son's body to India.
