Andhra Pradesh: Protest Over Newborn’s Death

Vijayawada: Tension prevailed for a while after the family members of a newborn baby boy staged a protest in front of the Vijayawada Old Government General Hospital, alleging negligence by the doctors in the death of their newborn baby boy on Monday.

The protesting family members pelted stones and damaged the hospital's glass panes, demanding justice and threatening to commit suicide if justice was not served. A scuffle broke out between the protesting family and the police personnel as they tried to control the situation.

The father of the deceased baby alleged that his wife had given birth at the hospital on Friday. The doctors informed them that the baby had a hole in his heart but assured the family that his condition was stable and there was no danger. "However, in the early hours of Monday, the doctors informed us that our child had died without providing any explanation," the father alleged, demanding clarification from the hospital authorities.
