Tirupati: Tirupati district superintendent of police (SP) Subba Rayudu has issued a stern warning to those involved in spreading false information regarding an alleged sexual assault of a minor girl in Yerravaripalem Mandal.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, SP Rayudu clarified that a detailed medical examination had found no evidence of sexual assault, contradicting certain media reports and statements made by local political leaders.

According to the SP, medical examinations were initially conducted at a primary health centre and later at the government maternity hospital in Tirupati by qualified doctors. These tests confirmed that no assault had taken place. He said that the girl and her family had not reported any such incident, making the publication of misleading news a serious offence under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

SP Rayudu also warned that spreading false information, particularly in sensitive cases, could lead to strict legal consequences. He stressed that the police are committed to safeguarding the rights and privacy of minors, and any violation of these rights would be met with firm action to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Meanwhile, the girl's father also reacted strongly against the baseless reports and statements from some YSR Congress leaders that alleged a sexual assault on his daughter. He clarified that there was no assault, stating, “My daughter was not raped. Two individuals have harassed her in the past under the pretext of love, and on Monday night, they tried to follow her with ill intentions. However, others intervened and protected her. This incident is being misused for personal agendas”. He thanked the police for swift action, urging the media and public to refrain from sensationalising unverified information.
