Andhra Pradesh: Three Youths Arrested for Possessing Air Gun

During a routine patrol, the police stopped the vehicle, searched it, and discovered the air gun in the trunk.

Vijayawada: Three youths were arrested in Eluru on Friday for possessing an air gun without a license.

According to Eluru police, R. Janardhan, a musician and dance school operator from Eluru and Chennai, had purchased an air gun and stored it in the trunk of his car. Before leaving for the United States recently, he allowed an employee with a fractured leg to use his car for transportation to the hospital.

However, three students acquainted with Janardhan later took the car out at night. During a routine patrol, the police stopped the vehicle, searched it, and discovered the air gun in the trunk.

When questioned, the students claimed they were unaware of the gun’s presence. The police booked a case under Section 20 of the Arms Act, 1959, which requires a license for possession of an air gun, and took the youths into custody for further questioning.
