Andhra Pradesh to Get 2,000 Electric Buses

Visakhapatnam: In a major step towards sustainable public transport, transport minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy announced that the Public Transportation Department (RTC) will soon receive 2,000 electric buses. The announcement was made on Saturday during the inauguration of six new buses at the Parvathipuram Bus Complex.
Accompanied by MLA B Vijaya Chandra, Minister Reddy toured the town in the newly introduced buses and stressed the government's commitment to reorganising the RTC and recruiting drivers and conductors. He emphasised the need for developing backward areas like Parvathipuram and assured cooperation in addressing worker issues, citing his family's 40-year association with the RTC.
The Minister announced plans to modernise the Parvathipuram RTC infrastructure, including reviewing disciplinary actions for minor infractions and revoking night halt allowances. He discussed strengthening RTC cargo services, leasing properties for 33 years, and seeking central funds for road development.
Highlighting efforts to improve sports infrastructure, Minister Reddy announced a sports complex and indoor stadium in Parvathipuram. He laid the foundation for a driving track in Narsipuram and a multi-purpose sports complex at SVD Degree College. Additionally, he inaugurated a fountain at a Seethanagaram bus shelter and planted a sapling at the RTA office.
Government Whip Thoyaka Jagadeeswari, Parvathipuram MLA Bonela Vijaya Chandra, district revenue officer K Hemalata, RTC executive director A Vijaya Kumar, and others attended. Outstanding RTC workers were felicitated during the programme.
