Visakhapatnam: Tribals of Neredu Bandha village, located within the Cheemalapadu Panchayat in Ravikamatham mandal, organised a horseback rally on Wednesday to press for better road facilities. The protest coincided with chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s visit here.

The village consists of 15 families of 80 people, who face hardships due to its remote setting and inadequate infrastructure. Pro-tribal PVTG association leader Killo Suribabu led the rally. The locals demanded that the authorities obtain forest permissions to facilitate road connectivity for the village.

Suribabu stated, "Due to lack of road access, children from Neredu Bandha travel six kilometres on horseback to reach the nearest school in Jaggampeta village. A survey had been conducted by the Chodavaram Panchayat Raj department, but the road project was stalled due to the village's classification as a forest area.”
Now, the road can be laid only with special permission from the district administration. The tribal community urged Anakapalle district collector Vijayakrishnan to visit their village and address their concerns.

The rally was participated majorly by women and children. Leaders of the PVTG association, including Killo Suribabu, and K Govinda Rao, a member of the CPIM district executive, led the protest.
