Any disturbance at counting hall will not be tolerated: AP CEO Meena
Machilipatnam: Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena on Thursday said anyone who tries to create disturbance at the counting hall would be immediately arrested and sent to jail.
Interacting with media persons after conducting a surprise check at the counting hall at Sri Krishna University in Machilipatnam, he said any candidate or an agent deputed by the political party concerned tries to create any kind of disturbance would not be tolerated during counting of votes at the hall as it amounts to violation of rules of Election Commission of India (ECI).
He said the Police department would implement Section 144 CrPc prohibiting assembly of four or more persons at the surroundings of the counting halls and no processions in connection with the victory of candidates would be allowed.
Meena said the personnel of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were deployed at all the strong rooms where Electronic Voting Machines (EMVs) were preserved for counting on June 4. Additional police forces were also deployed in sensitive areas in the State apart from those affected with the violence on the polling day on May 13 and later.
He said special training was imparted to the staff members, who are taking part in counting duty.
