AP Cabinet Approved the AP Tourism Policy and New Sports Policy

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has made several key decisions regarding the state's development. The AP Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, discussed and approved numerous proposals. According to sources, the Cabinet granted approval to the SIPB's decisions concerning investments totalling Rs.85,000 crore in the state. Additionally, it approved an amendment bill to strengthen the PD Act for crime control in Andhra Pradesh.

The Cabinet also gave the green light to amend the Lokayukta Act. Another approved amendment allows for an additional two members to be included in temple committees. Furthermore, the Cabinet decided to establish a High Court bench in Kurnool and approved setting up an alternative unit for the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, which CM Chandrababu himself named "Eagle."

The Cabinet approved the AP Tourism Policy, including granting industry status to tourism projects. It endorsed the Judicial Preview Abolition Bill and proposed repealing the AP Infrastructure Transparency Act of 2019. An amendment was also made to reduce the period for moving a no-confidence motion against chairpersons of local bodies from four years to two years in the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the new Sports Policy for 2024–25. A resolution was passed to rename the Anti-Narcotics Task Force to "Eagle" (Elite Anti-Narcotics Group). Approval was also granted for an agreement by the Housing Department under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 2.0. Moreover, the merger of AP Towers Limited with AP State Fibernet Limited was sanctioned, transferring the capital, assets, and liabilities of AP Towers Limited.

Lastly, the Cabinet approved the restoration of mobilisation advances to contractors, as well as proposals by the Amaravati Technical Committee to invite fresh tenders and resume construction work in Amaravati.
